Proposition X is a school classroom, safety and repair measure that provides $59.4 million in funds necessary to address the critical and urgent needs of schools in the South Bay Union School District. The bond is completely modernizing the District’s elementary schools by upgrading classrooms, restrooms, libraries, kitchens and technology, improving handicap accessibility and upgrading fire and life safety systems. These repairs and improvements are needed to ensure that South Bay Union School District students are in a safe, healthy, technologically-modernized and quality learning environment.
In 2012, the bond was reauthorized through Prop Y so that the urgent modernization needs of the District can continue to be met.
Twelve elementary schools compose the South Bay Union School District, centered in Imperial Beach, CA. The District serves more than 8,000 students in the communities of Imperial Beach, San Ysidro and South San Diego.
